Not WD-40, it will eventually gum up. Shutters can often be cleaned by squirting some naphtha AKA Ronsonol lighter fluid into them. I have also had some luck with an electronic contact cleaner called Deoxit D-5. Its best to open the shutter to make sure you get the solvent in the right place.
I suspect you Copal will wind up at Grimes after a while.

Hi!

Before sending off my Commercial-Congo 210mm/4.5 in Copal #3
shutter to Grimes, Inc., I had the thought: they are going to fix it,
why not shoot some WD-40 in it? It will probably cost north of $200 anyway.

I'm a wise fool!   It worked.  The slow speeds are now working and
the 2 bills are still in my pocket.

To the wise: don't try this!
I think all the chatter on the frig lite helped! Thanks everyone!

                                                   Best. Rich
