With the system you say you have you would be better off just installing
GNU/Linux
or FreeBSD (www.freebsd.org) on the system and forgetting Microsoft sub standard
operating systems. My initial tests of PSKMAIL on a 600 Mhz has been fine on a
Ubuntu system. Before this I ran psk31 on a 300Mhz x86 FreeBSD box with no
issues.
Take this as the opportunity to join the modern world and use a system where you
can get at the parts to tweak/fix as you desire. Would you buy a car with the
hood welded shut?
