That's called s-video, and you'd be better off sampling VGA, as it's probably the best understood in terms of hardware. also, I don't disagree that sampling DVI would be preferable. I was just suggesting a way to get to VGA since it sounded like you were trying to downsample for some reason or another. The reason I feel DVI would be better than VGA is that DVI is digital and so you'd have hard boundaries and delimiters with which to structure code and hardware. VGA can technically support infinite resolution, as long as you have clocks fast enough on both ends, so that would probably make sampling it a bit trickier. I only referred to dvi since that's the kind of port on the vga video card I use. There's another smaller round port but I don't know what kind of connector goes into it and what possibilities that might open up if any on some video cards that might be used as an alternative connection. Is the e.f.i. or U.E.F.I. standard all part of digital rights management? Ron thought it might be. -----Original Message----- From: programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Sina Bahram Sent: Thursday, April 21, 2011 13:48 To: programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: cmos accessibility setup thoughts Why not simply pull down DVI to VGA with a 50 cent part, and then sample the VGA as necessary? The technician I talked with last night told me he doesn't know if the DVI standard has ever been defined and written down anywhere yet too. Probability for now is we can't yet get there from here yet. It may be possible to do the necessary signal transforms using a small microprocessor on the cable though provided one could be correctly programmed though. __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind
