Any dvi to vga convertor will do. Remember, you don't care about more than a few frames a second, which is to say less than 20 to
30, so you don't even ened an active one. A passive convertor works fine.

I have some rattling around in my bag, for when presentation computers don't have the right video in.

Take care,
Sina

could you expand on this a bit, what 50¢ part is required? I worked, no
actually more like played with modular electronics when I had my sight, so
thirty years ago, but have forgotten more than I remember and haven't even
tried to keep up to date properly with the newer electronic components
setups.

point me in the right direction at least, please?

Why not simply pull down DVI to VGA with a 50 cent part, and then sample
the VGA as necessary?

Take care,
Sina

I found out last night that dvi to serial probably can't be done since a
high frequency digital signal has to be converted to a signal an rs232
serial connection can use. The technician I talked with last night told
me he doesn't know if the DVI standard has ever been defined and written
down anywhere yet too. Probability for now is we can't yet get there
from here yet. It may be possible to do the necessary signal transforms
using a small microprocessor on the cable though provided one could be
correctly programmed though.
