Re: accessible bios setup:thoughts?

I will admit I jumped down and may have gone to far to see the reply, but as far as the answers present in this run of the subject line that still leaves my question unanswered, can I get video info out of the USB ports?

although troubles reply says I might not, that's a might not, since I know of a lot of assorted items that use USB interface

including both sound, and TV tuner cards which edge toward the "yes" side of the scale, but there may be a difference in USB operations during bios usage that I know nothing about.

On new boards today the USB is enable for USB keyboards and mouse. Don't use ps2 anymore.

USB isn't native though; you have to enable it.

There have ben a few cards that would send video to a box that would speak the screen. It never went anywhere because to pricey. The bad part is only the video, keyboard mouse and USB ports are lit up by the BIOS. On the screen with web cam, tilt the screen so you stop the glare and kill lights in room.
have done that one a few times.

Hello all:
I will be getting a desktop in the near future and I want to be able to work my way through the bios and configure everything like I want (raid, etc). Have any of you found a way that can be used for someone across the net to work with you? I have a friend who said he would help, and I could point the webcam at the screen, but that's really hard if not impossible to read from the glow of the screen. Are there other solutions? I have a male - male VGA port setup. Could I possibly somehow set it up to stream the video from the computer to something that I could transmit across the net? this sounds like a cool little project, I'm just not sure where to begin. I'd think Linux would be a lot easier to write this for.
