What gets annoying is if you go to certain stations to request and the page is so large that JFW just sort of freezes up on it. There must be a limit to the buffer as well.

Your correct but the point is if you create a virtual buffer in a better compiled language you won't find it so slow. I know this because I havebeen playing with web content lately and I can tell you that what they do inJaws is just short of carving the bible using a chisel and the face of a mountain. Now with that said as you will probably jump up and down and say Pearl isnot compiled and will rocket through web content fast as well. This is true but it is made for Text manipulation and I would rather write with pearl andWindow-eyes then this mess jaws has. Maybe Gw will pay some of us to help Window-eyes catch up with jaws heck Imight write a few just for a free version of Window-eyes if they would giveit to me snicker. ken -----Original Message----- From: programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx[mailto:programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Octavian RasnitaSent: Monday, February 04, 2008 10:37 PM To: programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: WindowEyes Getting Script LanguageJaws works slow in web apps not because its scripting language is slow, but because it needs to re-create its virtual buffer on every change on that webapp, and of course that if the current page is big, it takes much time. But not the Jaws scripts do that, but the core of Jaws. And the core of the web browser, of course. Even without Jaws, a very bigpage, or one that uses much Javascript is harder to be used, but this is notseen very well when using a mouse. It is cool if Window Eyes will offer good support for scripting in more languages, because it might be easier to find documentation for VB script, or Perl script than for the Jaws' language. So the faster you can crunch text the better. I can't wait to code stuff in lispfor window eyes cackle. IL may be slower the first time executed, since a compilation process occurs then. Thereafter, IL will generally be faster than an interpreted language. For the purpose of scripting a screen reader, however, I think speed is less important than other factors. I have to think Compiled code would be faster and guessing IML would be faster as well. I ask because anyone who would want to make WindowEyes scripts would want to possibly distribute them to others. Thanks.
