Ok, it does seem to work now - sorry I hadn't thought of that as such - my bad...<smile>

Can now try it out.

Hey folks,

I'm exhausted after a long day of work, but if you can't get the
installer to work, use the sodbeans.zip download instead. We put that
file up there specifically because we knew some folks would have
trouble with the installer. With the zip file, just open sodbeans\bin\
and load sodbeans from the command line, or make a shortcut, or
whatever else you would like to do. We have tested it on 20 machines
and haven't had trouble, so long as the Java SDK is installed, but
your mileage may vary. If you have trouble, let us know and we'll look
into it.

My team has also deployed several critical issues that are related to
Sodbeans. Fixes are automatically deployed and can be accessed under
the help menu where it says "Check for Updates." We're also hoping to
deploy an additional fix related to some menu keys magically
disappearing tomorrow. We have a fix in the trunk, but want to do some
more testing before it goes out to the deployment servers.

Well, while I seemed to have got it downloaded, and have now installed that
Java SDK etc., I still can't make the SodBeans installer do much.

If I capture a screenshot, and run OCR on it, it seems there is a next
button, but can't get to it/activate it at all.

Hi all, I can't get it to download. I tried a combination of screen
readers NVDA and a new one called Cobra but to no avail. I can click the
download button, but nothing happens, not even my download manager comes up. When I got the link to download again it told me the product didn't exist.
Please help? Many thanks.

The one you want is here:

You want Java SE, JDK latest version.

I'm almost leaving for the airport, but I'll have one of the
programmers look into this issue carefully tomorrow and see if we can
come up with a better deployment solution than making you folks go
through this crazy process.

Ok, am busy downloading the SDK from here:

Hopefully right one, but it also mentioned netbeans for example.

Can you folks try installing the JDK separately and seeing if that
fixes the problem?

Another thing to try would be in the folder you installed it (usually
program files), go to sodbeans\etc\sodbeans.conf

In that file there is a variable called jdk_home. If you set that
variable to the path of your JDK install, does it still die?

I'm heading on a plane to Washington State today, but we'll see if we
can't reproduce this on the machines at the school on Sunday and try
to figure out what to do about it. I'll have one of the programmers
not going to Washington (We left one person on support duty) try to
reproduce and fix this issue as well.

Sorry about the growing pains, guys. We'll get this sorted out so you
can try it soon enough,

Stefik
