The popular security packages are very inaccessible. Among these are
avg; zone alarm, and ad aware and it doesn't matter whether real money
was paid for your screen reader either. Since on some of the machines I
use are win 98 machines they'll not run the popular stuff either. What
they will run is clamwin though and I've found that pretty accessible.
The clamwin package is a port of the linux clamav package and now has
some spyware killing capability. Another package that comes with high
ratings from security professionals I talk with is malware bites but I
don't know much about its accessibility status. The security
professional I talk to doesn't consider avg; zone alarm, MacCaffey's or
Norton to be worth paying for either. I'm pretty sure he did buy
malware bites package though.

Subject: Looking for good replacement for Windows OneCare

Hello List:

For about three years, I have been using Windows Live OneCare for
its firewall, antivirus scanning and backup facilities. Microsoft is no
longer renewing OneCare, so I need to find something else. I am running
Windows XP Home and use JAWS 11. I need to replace all three functions
of virus scanning, firewall and backup. Any thoughts would be
appreciated. Thank you.

Regards,
