Indeed, as I mentioned in a previous mail, this is used in equationnumbers. powerdot does set this at the start of a presentation to pdcolor1 so that the numbers come out in textcolor, not in black, but with color tweaks by the user, \color should set \normalcolor, powerdot can't do that. I contacted the author of xcolor already. His response was that there is indeed no code for that. He might look into it later, if time permits of course. Best, -Hendri.
