>> Seems to me ISP support should be able to help. Yeah, "should", but they always blame the PC or user. But at least in this case it very well may be the PC. -Clint God Bless, Clint Hamilton, Owner www.OrpheusComputing.com www.ComputersCustomBuilt.com www.OrpheusComputing.com/cheap_reliable_web_hosting.html www.OrpheusComputing.com/PCworks-computer-help-email-list.html ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ben Moore" Is there a speaker on the modem? Can you hear what it happening? Is it trying to do the logon all that time or Does it seem to logon and then his computer is having trouble. That will give you a place to start. I would confirm modem settings with the ISP. Look at the settings for the modem in device manager. Open the network settings for the modem and check there. You may be able to launch a terminal window for logon that will let you see what is happening. Seems to me ISP support should be able to help. Ben Moore -----Original Message----- He has a 2.4ghz Athlon cpu and 1gb ram so he has enough power for the winmodem. It's getting hard to find hardware modems now, but until broadband is more available I have to find one for him. And I will try the av trick too. Thanks Clint.
