Hi Ben, Below is what I got when I typed ipconfig /all. Is my computer IP address being treated as a router? I just turned off the firewall in the ActionTec modem/router but still had the problem of connecting to an audio stream. Are you saying just having a router is enough of a firewall and I don't need the firewall on? What in the world does "Lease Obtained" mean? I probably won't be able to do anything else till tomorrow afternoon. In the modem/router system log file I saw "domain_name_not_set_invalid" and I noticed that with ipconfig it says same thing about host name. Thank you for your help. I wish I understood more about networking. I assume you have DHCP enabled on your computer so that the router assigns an IP address to your computer. Do you know what the IP address of the computer is? You can open a command window on your computer and type ipconfig . That will tell you what IP address has been assigned to your computer. With only one computer, 192.168.0.2 may be the IP address assigned to it. > >I just looked at the manual for your router. It has a built in firewall. >Have you tried turning that off? A router on its own because of the network address translation is a firewall. So an extra software firewall while nice could be causing some problems. Since you've looked at the router logs I assume you can get into the router. > >I've got a couple of other ideas, but try that and let us know. > >Ben Moore > ========================= The list's FAQ's can be seen by sending an email to PCWorks-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with FAQ in the subject line.
