Clint uninstall the version you have and install the version you want. 
Once it is installed then disable the automatic update feature, usually 
in Tools, Options, Advanced. Also be sure to delete the Firefox folder 
in C:\Program Files\. And be sure to backup your settings folder in 
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application 
Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles in case there are backwards compatibility 
issues.
