If your monitor is working just fine, hide the update. Unless M$ rates a driver update as critical you may feel comfortable hiding it until you have an actual problem with the old driver. The optional software updates are non-critical updates to other M$ products like Office, Money, Works etc. Anything M$ deems as optional is most likely truly optional. It is also sometimes useful. In the absence of a compelling reason not to, it is usually safe and sometimes productive to install them. I don't know why it lists 2 updates for IE 7 when you are not running it, unless one is IE7 and the other an update for it.
