After all, most people are happy with a browser if they type an address in a box and get to the website. :) Many alternate browsers have a similar look and feel to IE, with minor differences in the wording of certain features, like "Bookmarks" instead of "Favorites". The chief difference between IE and other browsers is SECURITY. Internet Explorer is loaded by default on all Windows systems, and so has become the prime target for spyware/malicious advertising/virus- creators. They are banking on manipulating new/lazy users who do not have the intelligence or interest in exploring alternative browsers, and who also likely do not apply security updates, run without firewall/virus protection, and so on. With that being the status quo, ANY other browser is more secure than IE. Another big difference is the ability to customise your browser. Availability and ease-of-use of plugins and tweaking tools is a big selling point for a browser like Firefox. It is extremely customisable, and you can make it look and act completely different to the version you downloaded, should your heart desire. Alternative browsers are a topic worth exploring. Just type "browser comparisons" into a search engine and do your own research. And remember, the good thing about trying a browser other than IE is that you can remove it from your computer if you don't like it and try something else.
