There are Ramdisk's that could use more, but I think there are a lot of
compatibility issues with such software, so they never really got too
popular. That PC can only take a maximum of 4GB anyway (if you use 1GB
sticks in each of the 4 slots). That older DDR2 memory is fairly expensive
compared to newer memory types.

Ahhhh I had forgotten about that. I've been around 64-bit systems for too
long. Isn't there a utility out there that will use that extra GB of RAM as
a RAM disc?

Actually, all 32-bit operating systems will only use 3.1 GBs of RAM.
Nevertheless, 2 GBs is the "sweet spot," meaning that less than that can
become an "issue" if one runs a lot of apps at one time and price-wise, for
most types of RAM, 2 GBs isn't *that* expensive or that much trouble to fit
on a motherboard.

Windows XP will only take up to 3 gb of memory.  Until last week that is
what I had!  Pentium 4 is good!  With a larger HD you will have a good
desktop, IMHO :o) Regards Lil
