Hey HB!!!! Did you ever do anything with that HP? Or still
waiting? If you want memory look at this link to crucial
dot com:
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=dc5700%20S
eries%20(All%20form%20factors)&Cat=RAM

If you upgrade to 4GB buy 4 new sticks all from the same
manufacturer. If you upgrade to 2GB buy 2 new sticks.
Performance is better with RAM sticks in matched pairs.
Crucial is as good as any and better than many.

For a new hard drive, go for a SSD if the computer can
support it. If not, get a 7200 or 10,000 RPM hard drive.

Go with the fastest router and adapter you feel is worth it
compared to price of the computer and the use you will make
of it.

If it has USB 1.0 consider a new controller to get USB 2.0
or 3.0.

Think twice about new additional and new replacement
devices. Some gobble power like no tomorrow and may
necessitate a larger power supply.

The first four suggestions will result in the most
performance (speed) improvement short of replacing the
motherboard and CPU.

Please note that it will be easy to spend more money on
improvements than a new computer would cost and definitely
more than the computer might be worth once it is improved.

Windows XP will only take up to 3 gb of memory. Until last
week that is what I had! Pentium 4 is good! With a larger
HD you will have a good desktop, IMHO :o) Regards Lil
