I don't know Don never thought about it.  I assume it gets edited everytime you 
make a change from the default and if you delete it or rename it,it just 
rewrites to the "factory settings"

Can normal.dot be edited?  Useful if a lot of
changes have been made to the 
defaults and you only want to undo one.
