I'm with you!
I'm on our state's do not call list - I still get calls. some are legit and
some aren't - but I rarely answer them. on caller ID they come in unknown - if
it's important, they'll leave me a message. I agree - if I initiate the call,
it is different, but I am still cautious.
this was years and years ago before anyone talked about this stuff - and
seriously, hubby never even answer's the phone and if he does, he would never
buy anything ! it was a golf club scam!!! OH MY !!! they wanted him to be a
tester for them - and the company was one letter off than the legit company
and they had it down so well. Of course, I asked - why would they call you to
test? poor guy's ego - he's a good golfer, and it was possible that someone
gave them his name - it really was - but not likely!!! Even after it was on TV
he didn't want to believe it!!

That's one reason I NEVER deal with phone offers. I stopped answering phone
calls a long time ago.. I monitor thru answering machine.Scammers won't
leave a message. The ones that do--one out of hundreds, never get answered.
If I don't initiate the call in the first place it ain't gonna happen.
Anything that even LOOKS like spam or scam in e-mail gets dumped thru
mailwasher. Or bounced. Gotta watch these things somehow...

> we got taken once - well, hubby did. which is very unlike him. It was a
phone scam. Luckily, I figured it was a scan and started on it right away -
and then even saw it on the news afterwards. We had - I think 60 days on our
credit card, but the scam had that part figured out. I don't remember the
details now, I just know it was difficult to get out from under. We had to
prove we never received the goods - but at the same time, the scam wasn't to
send the goods for 90 days - so you couldn't possibly receive them - and we
cancelled it in time too - but since it was a scam, that really did
nothing - and they put several thousand dollars on our credit card. The
credit card company took it off the bill - but said if they found out
different, they would put it back on. then it came back on - then went off
again for good. we didn't have that sort of money. I am very leery -
> I have a debit card - but it is to my main account - and my husbands
business expenses get reimbursed into that account so it is difficult to
keep it at a low balance. I wonder what a minumum balance requirement is to
open another account with a debit card...
