Hi G, My computer is still in the state of not wanting to recognize Bluetooth, nor do I really know why. Last week you began trying to help me sort out what to do about it, but my job took all my time & energy the rest of the week so we didn't get far. I'm feeling a bit over whelmed & would like to think about a quick fix to this situation. Last week I bought an external hard drive with the intentions of backing up programs & all the last few years of material I put in to the computer. If it is a corrupted something in this computer, I was concerned about taking the corruption with the back up. So now I'm thinking maybe I just want to save all the many thousand emails in Windows Mail & just let the computer get reformatted so I can just keep up with things. Can you give me your step by step assistance in putting all the emails on the external drive, & then how to put them back in? Of course the address book is important as well. Or if you have any other suggestions, I am open, Jan ----- Original Message ----- From: Jan Robey To: _PCTechTalk Sent: Saturday, February 21, 2009 9:49 AM Subject: CORRUPT REGISRTY I am sorry to say the keyboard & mouse still will not connect with Bluetooth. A pop-up has been constantly appearing & when I mentioned it to the Dell tech he said it probably was there because he was trying to download the Bluetooth drivers. The pop-up said, "Vista was blocking a startup program". Well, this morning I took a look & it was HID switch, which I looked up on the net & it said it was Bluetooth related. I asked the tech for an explanation & she said that is why it is a software issue not a hardware one. My long term hardware warranty does not cover software issues...that is fee based. So, G, where can we go from here? Even though there were two different downloads on my desktop, I think only one was necessary. My reasoning is that the two techs prior to the last one only tried one. The last fellow tried the other because the first one wouldn't go in. The only reason I bring this up is because only one of the drivers went in & the second one had compatibility issues. One going in is more than the Dell tech's could accomplish. It went all the way through the Dell XPS Bluetooth Connection wizard but in the end it said that the keyboard failed to connect. But then it asked me to verify that the keyboard had sufficient battery charge. Since I had to replace the keyboard with a regular keyboard I took it off & placed it elsewhere for safety. Being a new keyboard, it couldn't have been charged because the only way to charge it is to attach it to the computer. It is now attached & should be charging, so I am hoping tomorrow morning the keyboard will be working. If that is the case, is it safe to think there really is no further problems with this computer? I will keep my fingers crossed through the night & tomorrow I will let you know if indeed the keyboard & the mouse recognize the Bluetooth card.
