This sounds weird, however you may have a puter with shared memory for the
video and this may explain it. to check on how much memory your puter is
really seeing, go to BIOS and see what it recognizes.

anyway, I thought I had 256, but System Properties, under performance, it
says:
192.0 MB ram.
Does this sound right?
