I had to install a new motherboard and cpu on my wife's computer.
She had a Nforce 2 board with a AMD XP 2500+ barton core.
I replaced it with a Abit Nforce4 with a AMD 64 3000 cpu.

I ran a Repair install on her XP home to pick up the new board
and cpu. Everythings works except one thing.

When trying to install the onboard network I get this message:

"There was a problem installing this hardware:"
Ethernet Network Controller

"This name is already in use as either a service name
or a Service display name"

I have never seen this message before.

I tried to uninstall it but was told that I couldn't because
this device was needed to boot.

I hate to format and install cause my wife has a lot of programs

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
