What is NID ? We didn't have to use it during RMAN Duplicates. -----Original Message----- From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Ruth Gramolini Sent: Thursday, May 06, 2004 12:44 PM To: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: Easy way to copy databases when using RMAN? I duplicate the target to the auxiliary of a different name then I use NID to change the dbid. I will check to see if I can really avoid using NID the next time I duplicate my database. It is simple to use. In a pinch, you can tar and move a db + related software to a new box and use nid to rename/re-id it, then rman can be used successfully etc. http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a9665 2/ch14.htm -- Bricklen Anderson, Database Administrator PresiNET Systems http://www.PresiNET.com Online Demo: https://www.presinet.com/secure/login ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. -- Archives are at //www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ FAQ is at //www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html ----------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. -- Archives are at //www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ FAQ is at //www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html ----------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. -- Archives are at //www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ FAQ is at //www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html -----------------------------------------------------------------
