Lerae and List:

As far as paperless, I doubt we'll ever become paperless even if we
personally do and would want to.  We need some way to sort out all that junk
mail we get, don't we?(lol).  
Unless one has sighted assistance, I can think of no better way than our
trusty Optacons.

I just use regular checks with the typewriter attachment and until that
dies, that will be my method of choice.

I, too receive my bank statements in braille, they include a print statement

with the braille one, and they send the regular print statement by itself, 
so I definitely am not living a paperless life.  I keep track of the bank 
balance through the phone bank thing, have my phone, Internet, and 
electricity bills automatically deducted, and write checks for the rent and 
my Visa card. I'm glad to be able to verify the checks that I write with the

Optacon. I have never worked with a typewriter lens, just by trial and 
error, have figured out how to coincide the raised lines of the check with 
the edge of the cartridge on my Smith Corona.
I still receive hard copies of the phone and electric bills, but I don't try

to read them, since the phone bill is the same all the time, and I can check

the deductions over the phone.
 We don't want to carry this paperless thing too far, or somebody might 
wonder why we   need the Optacon. Smile.
