Mary,

Good point about laying it flat. It would be a better ergonomic position to
prevent a repetitive injury and the arm would not get so tired. My LCD
screen is an off brand, but I have buttons on the bottom of it. I marvel at
everyone's proficiency with the Optacon. I am a new user and purchased one a
couple of years ago. At the time, I was enrolled in grad school and could
not dedicate the time to desensitize my fingers to recognize the words. I
would like some advice from the list serve on how to learn the Optacon in a
methodical manner. I do have the advantage that I lost my sight as an adult
and have visual memory of the alphabet. Any suggestions will be most
welcomed. My interest in the Optacon developed from a friend who could read
a bottle of red wine in order to know which type of wine he was drinking.
So, I try to tell individual's who use to use the Optacon to join the list
and indicate that the Optacon is thriving.

Thanks in advance.

Eileen

Hi again,

I forgot to mention that since the stand wasn't necessary, I just laid the
screen on its back, and can read it as if it's an open print book. I have it

on a little table to the right of what used to be the dinette table but I
don't eat at it any more because the optacon and PC keyboard and a million
other things are on it. You know how that goes. <grin>
