I'd add one thing to this. Well, actually two.

First get a book which is well made and where the print doesn't run too
closely into the binding. You can read these, but trying to read the
letters when they are very close to the binding can be very distracting,
especially for a new user.

The other thing is to get a book which uses a font that's easy to read
and where the printing is quite clear.

In my training I remember the first book we read was Jonathan Livingston
Seagul. It's short and really a nice little book.

And, the print was very clear and letters easily recognized.

You can graduate to more difficult fonts and print quality later, but I
really think that in the early stages you need to keep the material
simple.

Just my thoughts.

Don

Eileen, set aside at least 30 minutes a day. Get a book that you know
you
will like. Try to read it in its entirety. That is one way to develop
proficiency with the Optacon. Eventually, you might want to spend more
time,
so you could build tolerance. Get a very good book so that you'll want
to go
back to it. (Incidentally, I like red wine too.) Good luck.

In God We Trust,

Carolyn
