The mat was an extra accessory that we could buy. When I bought mine,
Telesensory had two; I bought the one for 8 x 11 1/2 paper. The other one
was larger. The best I can remember mine costed one U.S. dollar.
Bye for now,
Carolyn

Apologies for my self-correcting replies, but I can't remember such a
rubber mat. Perhaps such a mat would have been in the carrying bag of the
Optacon, or perhaps such mats would have been possible to purchase later.
Thanks for supporting my idea of treating the Optacon case with the
harness oil. This could have been done much earlier, but as I wrote, no
real damage has been caused to the case.

Hi, it's Robert in NY. Do you use the rubber mat that came with thethe quotes) in the message subject.
optacon for reading? I find that I don't use it, but rather put a
piece if paper toweling on the table, and this keeps the paper from
slipping. I have the mat, but don't really use it. Just curious if
listers still use the mat.
Never thought of putting a kind of leather conditioning on the case of
the optacon. When I had a guide dog, I used it for the harness. Not
a bad idea to treat the actual leather case.
