Hello Robert,
My optacon came with two rubber mats, a large one and a small one. I still use
them to stop documents slipping.
When the backpack that accompanied my optacon began falling apart, and the
lining started disintegrating, I took the whole thing apart and relined it and
restitched it by hand. It wasn’t an easy job, but it’s held now for several
years.
Cheers,
Anne

Hi, it's Robert in NY. Do you use the rubber mat that came with the
optacon for reading? I find that I don't use it, but rather put a piece
if paper toweling on the table, and this keeps the paper from slipping. I
have the mat, but don't really use it. Just curious if listers still use
the mat.
Never thought of putting a kind of leather conditioning on the case of the
optacon. When I had a guide dog, I used it for the harness. Not a bad
idea to treat the actual leather case.
