Bert,

Then we are on the same page. Slide 32 says "adopt 1080p." 24p and 30p don't have enough motion for Brazilian Football. Given that it has been my experience, and the demonstrations I've seen bear this out, that 1080p60 in H.264 compresses as efficiently or more so than 1080i30 in MPEG 2, it seems that 60p is a realistic choice.

There is some FUD in those charts anyway, so I don't think I should read too much into them. For example, look at slide 24. According to it, DVB-T only does 525i and 720p video - clearly incorrect. Also, it shows ATSC as having 240i video, which sure isn't a choice in my MPEG encoders.

Have a good weekend.

John

However, assuming that just because they go to AVC for SD and HD must
mean that 1080 is at 60p is what is in doubt. Best I can tell from other
sites, that's not going to be 1080 at 60p, but something less than that.
The HDTV mentioned never seems to go beyond 1080i, in the other multiple
sites I browsed. (Could be wrong, of course, but I was curious too.)
