If you're transporting the media to play on someone else's screen then it's not the same as watching it on a plane, train or automobile, is it? In that case you're not going to be watching it at all and you're using your phone as a glorified storage device. The iPhone/Touch/Pod only supports 480/576p max on component output. Maybe you have some new device from the future :-). It would be easier to drop the movie on a USB stick and plug that in to your friend's HTPC... you could even get HD.
