I understand the idea of this is to double the bandwidth, but ignoring that, how much better would ATSC work if all the transmitting antennas and receive antennas were circularly polarized? It seems to me most of the problems with ATSC reception are caused by pre and post echos confusing the receivers. How much would circular polarization improve this problem? And why hasn't this idea surfaced before? This seems to me a huge miss for improving ATSC reception on everyone's part. -----Original Message----- From: opendtv-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:opendtv-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Bob Miller Sent: Monday, April 30, 2007 2:06 PM To: opendtv@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [opendtv] Re: MIMO What they are trying to do is double the bandwidth so that they can add an MPEG4 HD service on the same channel as the current SD service. found the article. http://crave.cnet.co.uk/televisions/0,39029474,49289930,00.htm Bob Miller ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways: - Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org - By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
