[mso] Re: Word & Windows Installer

There is a big issue with the complete registry clean. Microsoft has a
tool - search for it in the downloads, but that tool still left residue.
We have commissioned a script that goes through the registry for a
complete clean so that our uninstalls will not have any user
modifications left over.
However, I would try things on a gradual basis:
1. Uninstall only Word through the Add/Remove Programs and reinstall
2. If that doesn't help - all of Office
3. If that doesn't help - try the MS Office cleanup tool (I don't
remember its name, as we discarded it early on)
4. And if it still doesn't help - manually clean the registry from stuff
that was still left over. Hard to say which - when I needed to do it I
searched for Office (in your case maybe Word will be sufficient) and
used judgment. DON'T FORGET TO BACK UP the registry beforehand.
Also, as a precaution, I always restart the computer between the
uninstall and the new install. Don't really know if it's needed, but I
leave nothing to chance.
Hopefully one of the first options will already do the trick. Good luck,
Ofra

What would you recommend cleaning the registry with? I have no problem=20
in re-installing if it will solve the problem. I tried the "repair" mode

from the CD but it didn't help.
