May be a problem with a registry reference - something in the registry
not listed properly and therefore Word has to do some searching every
time it fires up. We have had a similar problem with Access and it
turned out that the Excel jet engine was directed to the wrong location
in the registry and Access had to try and locate its actual location
each time.
Did you try Help/Detect and Repair (assuming you have it - you didn't
mention which version of Office)? A reinstall can help (you can try Word
only), alternatively, but only if you clean the registry after the
uninstall - as the regular remove from add/remove programs leaves a lot.

Hi
I have a strange problem when trying to open Word on one of the=20
computers at work. Word takes over 30 seconds to open. When clicking on=20
Word the Windows installer comes up for a few seconds and then closes.=20
Nothing happens on the screen for about 30 seconds and then Word opens.=20
This does NOT happen when opening either Excel or Power Point, ONLY with
Word and every time word is opened.
I am convinced it has something to do with the installer window that=20
opens but cannot see a way of getting Word to open immediately as it
should.
Any ideas?
