[mso] Re: Office 2003

I'm not sure of all the answers to this, but so far, I've been able to share
my Excel and Word files between Office 2000 and Office 2003 without a
problem. I haven't tried to open a 2003 pst in 2000, but I HAVE successfully
done this between 2002 and 2003 and between 2000 and 2002 so I wouldn't
assume there would be a problem. PowerPoint 2002/2003 files can certainly be
opened and edited in 2000 but some of the advanced animation features won't
work..but you can install the newest PowerPoint viewer from Microsoft on the
laptop and be able to view them. The version of Windows doesn't matter when
it comes to running the actual documents created in 2003, it only matters
when installing the actual programs.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. Bummer to be sure...

Next question: Will Office '03 play nicely with Office 2000 in terms of
reading files from Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. Also, will the *.pst files
be able to be moved from xp machines to a laptop with Office 2K and Outlook
2K, and Win98SE?

Basically, my company provides me with a laptop they've been slow to upgrade
but I like to run Outlook on the road and I move the *.pst around between
computers to keep my mail updated depending upon whether I'm at home or on
the road.

Thanks

Vince
