Have you run word at all yet I imagine it'll only create the normal.dot once
you've done some setting up.

Thinking about it, the \Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\
folder is a hidden file, and I don't think the find files will search hidden
folders by default (I may be wrong). Try browsing to the folder using
explorer - if you can't find it go to tools>folder options> view and tick
show hidden files - hopefully that'll reveal the hidden folder, and the lost
file.

HTH,

Dave.

latest I just got it yesterday from dell and I sure can't find it
anywhere?

It should be there somewhere - have you searched your whole computer?

On win2k it's kept in:
 \Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

If there is one there I can't find it that's why I ask the question this
morning about moving the old Normal.dot?

Office XP doesn't seem to have a Normal.DOT file. Am I crazy, or have they
replaced it with something else?
