What you'll want to do is add a textbox or frame and set it to the bottom of the page. Size as needed. If you use a frame, you can set an anchor to hold it, if a textbox, set the wrapping so it won't move. Remove the borders. Type your text inside with the continuation info and set the page reference to a bookmark you'll set in the continuation location. This way your continuation comments won't actually be part of the article, so the article text will flow around the textbox or frame to the next page. And the page number will reference wherever the bookmarked location ends up. See this article for some additional info... Understanding Frames and Anchors in Word http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=482 As for auto updating, not really. You either have to hit Ctrl + A to select all and hit F9 to update, which isn't hard. But you can also set Tools > Options > Print to update fields so it will update before printing...to ensure you don't print it with incorrect pages. Although the page refs will update when you reopen the doc. Dian D. Is there a feature in Word 2002 that will allow me to insert a "Continued" comment at the bottom of one page and a "Continued from" comment on the second page? I'm doing that manually now, but every time I alter the content on the first page, the point of continuation changes, therefore, the comments become out of place. Similar question: When I make a continuation from page-to-page, my continuation comments include the sending and the receiving page numbers. If I add or remove an intervening page, is there any way for Word to update the page references automatically (kind of like how it handles keeping track of footnotes)? Thanks for the help.
