So did I. I Greg, Great topic. I checked the links online last week to Expression. I use Publisher 2003 and find it great (and limiting but I have also used Quark and PageMaker) and was looking to decide what I wanted to use this year and to see how Front Page held up? I saw David Bartovsky MVP say that Publisher would be impressive in 2007 and I now get the impression Publisher (as basic as it can be with screen width and text box layout (you'd beetter lay it out first)) ) is not going to have web support - I really WANT this feature it saves making a huge capital outlay and is great for small business whose web site is not the focus of their business but an added marketing tool. I now do not know if Publisher will have web capabilites or not or Expression is the graphic and web based software. There are some community college beta versions but I am hoping the groups will give me some more concise info so I don't have to find the time to see what is going on. I also deal with Small Business Server and Office installations and there is never any Access - and if Publisher does not support web sites then what compatible solution do I now suggest. I am a firm believer in backing the main supplier and using additional compatible software for other solutions if need be. But to use sharepoint and online updating (great) I want web software and database (simple affordable solutions for small business). Add some VBA and ADO as need be and make a workable cost effectie solution. It is hard enough with print drivers and the chainging HP printers and VBA with multiprinters on networks large or small. A bit more integration would be nice so I can put my focus back on templates for Word and Access and integrating small business. Last week, I saw a query about FP's future, noted it, failed to check, etc., and then, today, I see this in an article about Google entering the Web Authoring/Hosting market: "Analysts have speculated that Google will eventually produce a suite of Web-based software to compete with Microsoft Office, or a currency system to compete with PayPal, a division of eBay (nasdaq: EBAY - news - people). While Google has said that Page Creator will not offer e-commerce capabilities, the product does compete directly with Microsoft's FrontPage software. However, that piece of software is currently being phased-out by Microsoft and will be gone by the time Office 2007 arrives. The beta version of Microsoft's Office Live contains a Web page hosting service." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11525329/ "Google launches Web-design service Page Creator to compete against Microsoft, Apple products" Has anyone here been keeping up with this? It's not what I would have expected as it essentially takes MS out of intermediate website development, drives all their efforts into MS Office Live (subscription software, kids) or Visual Studio. By default, even if I could stand either FP or Dreamweaver, I'd be saying I'm not a customer of either approach and my only choice would be DW. So, if you have better info, I'd love to hear your take.
