It's possible, and it's not difficult. Below is a sample VBA macro 
contributed to the EXCEL-L list by Ture Magnusson,  Microsoft MVP - Excel. 
I haven't tested it myself, but I'm sure it must work.

Here is a small procedure that will sort the worksheets.

    Sub SortWorkSheets()
      Dim Ws As Integer
      Dim SortAgain As Boolean

      If Worksheets.Count = 0 Then Exit Sub

      Do
        SortAgain = False
        For Ws = 1 To Worksheets.Count - 1
          If Worksheets(Ws).Name > Worksheets(Ws + 1).Name Then
            Worksheets(Ws + 1).Move Before:=Worksheets(Ws)
            SortAgain = True
          End If
        Next Ws
      Loop While SortAgain = True
    End Sub
