Perhaps someone else could help. But as an alternative, I think you could use the exact function as an array to identify the matching records and non matching records, then sort on that column and manually delete all the matching records. The syntax for using EXACT as an array function to compare to a range of cells is as follows. (Note, an array formula is activated by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER rather than just ENTER) =3Dor(exact(Cell Ref, Compare Range)) then press CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER The resulting formula will appear as: {=3Dor(exact(Cell Ref, Compare Range))}. The curly brackets indicate = that it is an array formula and are activated by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER. If the formula returns an error (#NAME), look at the formula in the formula bar of Excel and make sure the curly brackets are showing. If they are not, you did not press CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to enter the formula. Place your cursor in the cell, Press F2 to edit the cell and press CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to activate the array. Hope this helps. One has a column for phone numbers but NO phone numbers. The second one has the same info as the first database but it has phone numbers. I need the phone numbers from the second db to go into the column for phone numbers in the first database. =20 If I have to combine these two files to do this ----- then I would like the records from the second file - the records that moved phone numbers from it to the first database --- I would like those records to be deleted. It is possible that there would be some records left (if the number of records from the first database records don't match the number or records in the second database. Thanks a lot. I know very little about this, so I would need to know in very easy steps.
