It was 6/1/2004 when Peter Chiavaro mentioned:

YES..I want it right ..you are correct

 >ID:
 >Is the ID field alphanumeric (letters and numbers)? And I think you =
 >mentioned the County generated this ID?

NUMBERS..yes county generates the number when the child enters
Kindergarten..the number stays with them as long as they are in public
school in Florida

Of course you can store this value in your database, but it should be
stored in a field named =
 >"CountyID", and used only for reference.

I have named the field as StudentID (no spaces..I HATE spaces..NEVER,
NEVER, NEVER use them..can you believe I work with teachers who actually
name their files stuff like "letter to mrs. brown about tommy's
behavior.doc" ????!!!!! and I originally wanted the StudentID to be the
primary key..but it wouldn't work..when I imported the stuff from excel..I
must of had a duplicate or two of student ID numbers...and I also wanted a
relationship between student name and student ID..but kept getting an error
message saying it could not be done..don't remember the exact message

You'll ALSO need a field named "StudentID". This field should be an
"AutoNumber" field that =
 >automatically increments itself by one every time you add a new student.

I have this named as ID..it was the primary key that Access created..this
ok so far??

 >This field will generate a unique ID number in order to do your =

I understand them..sorta..I just kept getting a message about something not
being unique and I could not find the problem..

 >database, the programmers like to see one word names with a little =

this is the way I was taught in the two trainings...I like the idea..it
comes in handy and I have been using names like qry-8thGrade, qry-All,
qry-7thGrade, etc.

 >I am not too fond of the way you have your "Name" field set up either. =

because I don't have the database in front of me right now...I am not
positive..but I'm pretty sure I have it set up as LastName, FirstName
(don't need middle initial....yet)..and I think the field name is StudentName

  I think you mentioned =

OK..from what I have described above..are they fixed??

Ultimately I will need your Email address so I can =

this one will work :o)

yeah..and I'll be the hero for the day too

I know..I think I privately emailed you something already... :o)

you too..thanks
Cherie
