youve heard the same as me Rich. Used car battery acid has got lead deposits
in it, however most motor factors sell it new which is were mine comes from.

I'm sure someone told me this was a bad idea though? Is there some issue
with it being possible to cause a reaction that will deposit lead onto the
copper if you use it as a pickle. If you then heat the copper to try and
work with it, the lead is absorbed into the copper, which makes it
brittle.

Can anyone else confirm or rubbish this suggestion?

(Same reason why it's suggested that low melting point solder is not used
on boilers.)
