Forwarded on behalf of Phill Smith. ------------------------------------------- Barrie, Hydrochloric acid is the best stuff to use for boiler descaleing. A weak solution is best. When the HCl reacts with the offending scale, it forms salts, which are highly soluble and easily washed out. The use of sulphuric acid will create sulphates, which are not particularly soluble, and therefore recoat the internal surfaces. Vinegar (if I could remember it's equation) is not much better than H2SO4, unless a scrubbing device is used. Hydrochloric acid is available from swimming pool chemical suppliers, and is cheap.
