If the ports don't appear, then:

You don't have the Motif set to use USB for MIDI. If that's so, then, in
utility mode on the ES go to the F5 (MIDI) page, or, on the XS, go to
the Remote (F5) page and then the SF2 (MIDI page. Change the output/MIDI
terminal setting to USB.

The Motif isn't connected to the computer. Check your connections.

The Motif USB driver isn't installed correctly. Re-install it.

If these don't work, you need to call Yamaha support.

I tried that and it couldn't find them.

You want to use Yamaha port 1 for both in and out.

Try using Autoconnect on the setup menu, and the editors will scan all
ports for the Motif.

Hi all. I noticed that the manuals for John's editors say to go into the
setup menu and select the appropriate ports. I see that Yamaha motif xs
1 through 4 are showing and are available, but every time I try to
connect with them it eventually gives me a not connected message on the
screen. Bryan or someone, give me a hand please. Sorry if this message
has been posted before.
Thanks
Jes
