If the ports don't appear, then: You don't have the Motif set to use USB for MIDI. If that's so, then, in utility mode on the ES go to the F5 (MIDI) page, or, on the XS, go to the Remote (F5) page and then the SF2 (MIDI page. Change the output/MIDI terminal setting to USB. The Motif isn't connected to the computer. Check your connections. The Motif USB driver isn't installed correctly. Re-install it. If these don't work, you need to call Yamaha support. Try using Autoconnect on the setup menu, and the editors will scan all ports for the Motif. I noticed that the manuals for John's editors say to go into the setup menu and select the appropriate ports. I see that Yamaha motif xs 1 through 4 are showing and are available, but every time I try to connect with them it eventually gives me a not connected message on the screen.
