Hello David,
It might be easier for people to answer your questions if you said something
like the following statement.
"I updated iTunes. When I open it, I hear (whatever it is you hear
that's different from what you are used to hearing." What boxes are not
showing up, etc.?
This will make it easier to answer your questions.
