Mike,
You're right, something's wrong. But the fact remains that a vote for anyone
but Kerry on Nov.2 will contribute to a win for Bush. We didn't think that
situation would be all that horrible, back in 2000, but Bush hasn't been the
kind of middle-roading prez most Dems figured him for. There was a huge
difference between Bush and Gore in 2000, and there's a chasm between Bush
and Kerry now. With Kerry, we'd have a chance to salvage the system of
checks and balances, and maybe not turn into the white Christian nation
Bushites believe we should be.

But whether Bush & Co. will accept a non-win, despite the votes, is a
serious problem.

Ditto for Kerry and the Dems.

Is either party willing to be declared the loser in a tight race? I doubt
it. And who would "declare" such a thing--the Supreme Court again? This
election will be decided in the courts, it seems, if it hasn't already been
settled in some back room. I, for one, don't figure that the Dems will win
the electoral votes, even if you suck it up and vote for Kerry. But you owe
it to your curiousity to hand the Dems a win and see what happens from
there. Should be interesting. Btw, you *are* very cute!
Carol K.
