"as one who makes his living doing things to things I
think of thinking as thinging. "

This is important. I cannot conceive of a human being (not a thing, really) just thinging. Take an Air Conditioner Repair Man (or Person). Surely he needs permission (by a nonthing = person) to get in, and he´ll need the payment from the person (not thing).

There are very few things we do to things. Take a sheep, and suppose it´s a thing. Someone makes love to the non-thing. It turns out it belongs to an ancestor of Ritchie (in Lake of Lammermuir Hills), so what you are doing is something to the Laird of Lammermuir.

In fact, it is ab reductio impossible to do a thing to a thing. Even walking the moon has now been americanized.
