I've never found the reasons why one would > choose one scheme over the other & would really like to know. 10.0.0.0/8 is a "Class A" subnet with a total of 2^24 (approx 16.7M) IP addresses. 192.168.0.0/16 is a "Class B" subnet with only 2^16 (65536) IP addresses. Both are private subnets which aren't routeable outside your LAN. One just allows for more machines than the other. Other than that they both serve the same purpose. -- G.
