Tried both but no success.

Try mail.mcb.net or smtp.mcb.net

Hi Tom,

I've just looked at the OUTGOING SERVER page, when using Thunderbird. It's
set at gwinsk-smtp.mcb.net

I don't think it was set at that on my XP machine.

hi Gerry
I have just had the same problem setting it up on my windows 7 in the
end
I
think it was finding the right name to call the pops server
I have always used mail.btinternet now I have to use
mail.btinternet.com.yet
the out going is still mail.btinternet

This isn't a long message 'cos the blood is rushing to my head.

It's also different because trying to reply via Thunderbird fails, with
an
error message saying it can't access my ISP's server. I'm having to
reply
via Webmail, on the same MCB.net server. That works. All suggestions
welcomed.

Also for my next problem. Having loaded Photoshop Elements onto this
machine, it insists in opening all photos etc, instead of the Windows
prog. I fixed it on my IOM machine but can't remember how.

its just like your next door
write standing on your head and we will get it the right way up
