Re: Vista!

Hi folks! New member on the list. I'm with those who want to wait at least a little while before upgrading to Vista. Just going on what I've heard, jaws may have some work to do, because of the way this new version of Windows is written. Not sure, and I'm not a computer programmer, but that's what the analysts say about it. I've heard the program comapred to a Mac platform. Ya, same feeling here. Why do they have to go and mess up a good thing! xpsp2 has to be the most stable! Now they go and release something full of bugs to fix with a few large service packs. I guess it's money witch isn't a bad thing. oh well. I'll stick to xp as long as possible.

Yes, I'm probably going to wait until the first service pack comes out to even think about switching to vista. As of right now, I think Vista is just a pricy service pack to xp. There just isn't too many things new with it that could justify me upgrading. Perhaps when Vista sp1 comes out, I'll reevaluate things.

That's alright, Microsoft dropped the ball when it comes to Vista anyway. Personally, anyone who wants to go out and buy it on the day it's released should wait 6 months anyway. At least until the first service pack comes out. Of course, the only reason I say that now is because I end up receiving most of the tech support calls for Vista. At least where Dell's concerned.

If someone is brave enough, then that person can buy a version of Vista (hopefully Ultimate) and see if JAWS 7.0 and above are supported (or if 8.0 does work with AERO interface).

on launch day when 8.0 was

released?  Did I misunderstand FS here.

Looked out on the website and

didn't find any mention at all.  I guess that

is why FS refused to go on ACB

radio main menu tonight with Jeff bishop

because they have no product for

vista.  Congrats to the other readers that

got it right and support Vista

today and not whenever they feel like it.

As far as I know, JAWS is not officially

supported under Windows

Vista.  To my knowledge, the  only

screenreaders that officially

support Vista are Window-eyes, Hal, and I

dunno if you'd even count

this as a an official screenreader, but

Freedom Box System Access is

also supported under Vista.  It's too bad

that FS appears to have

dropped the ball on this one.
If you're a JAWS user and you want Vista,

you're screwed.
