Can't think of an example right off but then my old memory isn't what it used to be. Will work on it. Tom ----- Original Message ----- From: "Yardbird" <yardbird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Tom,
Okay, so you don't have any icons except the few that Windows puts there by
default. Nothing representing any applications you've got on your system.
that's unusual, but it's your computer, after all. But what I still want to
know is, what are you describing when you say you're keeping the desktop
clear for things you do with the Jaws cursor? What sorts of things? I'm
not able to guess.

Thanks.

I find I just don't use the desk top icons. The only ones I have showing are the Recycle sBin, My Documents and My Computer. ----- Original Message -----

Well, you can create or edit a hotkey from the Properties of the Programs
menu item, as well. Same thing, in effect. For my part, I was just
mentioning the Desktop icon because I think most people have Jaws on the
Desktop as well. But if you don't, because you're trying to keep the
Desktop clean, what is it that you *do* have represented by a Desktop
icon?
How does Jaws represent a category of desktop icon that would be
considered
needless clutter? And what is it you do on the desktop with your Jaws
cursor regularly that is interfered with by having icons there?

Upon further reflection I realized that I don't have my shortcut key set
to
start Jaws from the Desk Top but from the Start menu. I don't even have
Jaws
on the Desk Top. I keep the entries on my Desk Top at a minimum to keep it
from cluttering up the background when I am using the Jaws cursor.
