Re: Problem Installing JAWS 6.0

It might not be a JAWS-related issue as such. Have you any other
program CD's you could try, to see if you get the same result when you
try installing other programs? Also, the suggestion offered earlier to
delete the setup.exe files is but a temporary mesure to tide you over,
so you could do a Find Files & Folders and delete them; or, better, if
you knew where the troublesome modem driver is located, delete it so.
Other things you could try: Instead of letting the JAWS installation CD
auto-run, as you are inserting the CD press and hold down the left shift
key while the CD-ROM drive spins up and down; release it after 20
seconds or so. Then open Windows Explorer and go down to the CD drive
and, there, get into JAWS6 then into the Setup Folder: there, enter the
setup.exe file and try installing JAWS that way. Same result? System
Restore, as I suggested earlier. If System Restore can't run? Then
perhaps it's time to uninstall the last program, etc., you installed
before the trouble first manifested.

Actually none of the setup files are in my temp directory. They're all
=
over
the place, and I think most of them relate to repair utilities that =
rerun
setup for specific programs.
I put in an e-mail form to FS this morning. Haven't heard anything back
yet.

Hey Jerry

If the setup.exe files are in your temp folder on your hard drive,
it's=20
really ok to trash them, since they're in your temp folder, you
really=20
don't need them. What you did was a smart idea, I probably would've =
tried=20
renaming the file too. But at this stage, you really don't need all =
those=20
setup.exe files, so what I would do is just trash them, and then try=20
installing JAWS 6 again. Hopefully it'll work this time.
